Flashtool is a free, open source software for Mac computers that allows the user to easily make backups of all their personal computer's data. This includes system files, applications, settings, and also User Applications installed on your computer. FlashTool is designed to make these backups quickly and without any hassles. However it should be noted that FlashTool will not backup all programs installed on your computer because it does not have the ability to detect executable files used by applications installed outside of its own folder location. It can only backup data located in this folder space which is why some folders cannot be backed up. FlashTool is known to be the most widely used program for data backups. Many users have lauded it as being very simple to use and also being able to easily backup all their data without any hassles. From there, the user can use FlashTool to transfer this information back to another computer or another location. Because of its ease of use, this app is often downloaded by novice users who are new to using computers and backups. Advanced users praise it as well because it can also be used on Windows and Mac OSX machines which makes them very useful if you need an application that can backup or restore information from both of these operating systems. FlashTool is designed to be compatible with Windows Vista, XP, Windows 7, Windows 8/8.1, and Mac OSX. It is also known to have very little problems when being downloaded through Window's Internet Explorer 10, 11 or Chrome. However there are still some people who have complained about FlashTool not being able to install on their systems because it gets repeatedly downloaded as an incorrect program type. There are certain options that can be checked in FlashTool's download webpage that should fix this problem if it occurs. The most notable feature of Flashtool is the ability to backup all personal computer information onto a single file called a "FlashGenius". FlashGenius is the file format that Flashtool creates that contains all of the data that was backed up. It can be transferred to another computer through a flash drive (flashgeniuses are encrypted by FlashTool) or it can also be uploaded through an internet connection to other cloud computing systems. Once there, the data contained within the FlashGenius file can be downloaded onto any computer system to restore them. These restore files are called "FlashRestore". The backup encryption used by Flashtool is AES 256-bit encryption which is very strong encryption and generally considered unbreakable. There has currently been no reports of anyone being able to break this encryption. It is up to the user which files and folders they choose to backup and restore. There are various reasons and situations in which a user may wish to restore their data. This includes: Folders within FlashTool include: Z:\\Boot\\grub\\menu.lst /boot/grub2/grub.cfg /boot/initrd1.img /tmp/* -rw-r--r-- 3 root root 11806 Feb 24 16:16 autorun. cfa1e77820
